After watching the army band the other night, my friends (JC, Mary, Eve, and Dianna) and I drove out to the overlook at Sable Lake. It was a beautiful evening. While we were watching the sunset reflections in the sky and on the calm lake, a beaver swam by.

Army Band Concert in Grand Marais
Yesterday an Army Band that is touring Michigan stopped by Grand Marais and performed for a large crowd of several hundred people. They played a wide array of music from military marches to country, rock, pop, and more. They also took time to meet as many residents and tourists that they could. A good time was had by all.

Au Sable Point Hike
I am posting this update despite the reoccurance of the cooling fan issue. My computer is sitting on a cooler ice chest Lifoam to prevent over-heating. We thought the cooling fan was working, but obviously it is not. I've ordered a new computer rather than put more money into this computer. I'll leave early on Friday for the Ishpeming show to drop my old computer off. The technician, as part of the new purchase, will transfer all the files and install the software.
Yesterday I actually made time to get a real hike in. Jamey, Lois, and I hiked from the Log Slide to what I call Jacobesville Beach, located around 3/4 of the way to Au Sable Lighthouse.
Walking to the trail head...
Due to all the rain that we have had, the vegetation along the trail was taller and denser than I have ever seen...
Looking toward the lighthouse from one of the overlooks...
Looking toward the Grand Sable Banks...
Baby mushrooms on moss..
Paper-like mushrooms...
Interesting bush with shell-like flowers. Does any one know this one?
We thought we saw a person at the bottom of the Log Slide, but with my camera zoom we realized it is just a rock.
There has been significant erosion on the bluff in the corner of Au Sable Point.
Small red mushrooms...
We loved this plant.
Jacobesville beach...
