The first part of Memorial Day weekend I spent in Lewiston, MI with my son and his family. We had rain the first night and a few sprinkles, but overall the weather cooperated. A great time was had by all (other than the ticks).

Fruit trees in bloom....
We filled up at what may be the last full service gas station in Michigan....
We had a great outing at this 1/4 size railroad. For $6 a person you get a 20 minute ride through a tunnel, two trestles, and past several scenes.
A boulder out front with a cool secondary fill.
The rails are 16 inches apart...
They were using the diesel engine on our tour, but they do have a steam locomotive, too. This is a picture of the water tower.
One of the owners -- he drives the train, which can get up to 12 mph.

Lake Superior Bluff East of Grand Marais
Last week I drove with a friend east of town to drop off museum brochures at Muskallonge Lake State Park. On the way back to Grand Marais, we checked out two areas that used to allow us access down to the shoreline. Now, there are bluffs with cantilevered lips at the top, which would make it almost impossible to get back up. There are also hundreds of trees that have fallen due to the massive erosion. I think Lake Superior has always gotten bigger.
Approaching the bluff....

Sable River and Lake Superior
I spent the first part of the weekend in Lewiston, MI to help my grandson celebrate his birthday. I didn't take a lot of photos, but will post them tomorrow. Today I'm posting the rest of the photos from my Sable River hike the other day. These pictures were taken at the mouth of Sable River.
