I am playing catch up with some tasks. One includes posting some previously taking photos. While down state I made my usual visit to the UofM botanical Gardens. As many of you know, I enjoy taking photos of flowers.
This blog displays scenic photos taken from around Grand Marais, MI. Photos of rockhounding and nature adventures are also posted. Information is included about the Gitche Gumee Agate and History Museum and other scientific subjects. For more information about the museum and our unique mineral art, books, DVDs, and Online rockhounding classes please go to www.agatelady.com.

Supai Grand Canyon -- Post 2
I realized this morning I never posted the second set of photos from my Grand Canyon trip. Here they are...
Normal May temperatures are in the 90s, it was much cooler when we were there! Daytime highs were in the 70s and low 80s.
Due to all the recent rain, everything seemed to be in bloom!
By the morning after our arrival, the color of the river started to clear from brown to blue.
My friends, Helen and Marcia, and I formed our own country of Helkarcia. Our homeland is the Grand Sable Dunes, but it was fun to venture to the Grand Canyon!
Getting close to the waterfalls area, which begins a mile and a half from the village.
Again, the river color is still not back to normal. The blue color is due to high lime content. The lime combines with mud, sticks, and leaves to form travertine. The travertine rock creates incredible terraces and veils of rock along the waterfalls.
Between the two big waterfalls the campground spreads along the river for a mile....
I had significant trouble with my hips, so I decided to helicopter out. Here are a few photos from the helicopter.
On the drive south from hilltop parking, you have to watch out for the cows.
We thought the antelope were stuck on the fence. They were just sparring.
West of Peach Springs there are dragoon covered hills. I call them "Fred Flinstone" rocks.
We spent two nights in Vegas. The second night we had dinner and went to an incredible Cirque du Soleil performance!
