A few days ago I just had to spend time on the beach. I drove east of town and visited one of my favorite beaches. It was a beautiful evening.
The black sand has gold flakes. There is not enough to get rich, but I have seen people successfully pan for the gold.

Hurricane River
Wow. I did not realize it has been so long since I posted on my blog. As most of you know, the businesses of the summer season does not allow enough time to get everything done. Other than playing golf on TUesdays, Wednesdays, and some Friday evenings -- the museum occupies all of my time.
Overall it has gone OK. The number of tourists visiting Grand Marais is crazy. You would not even know we are in the midst of a global pandemic based on not only the numbers of tourists, but by the behavior of many who do not social distance or wear masks. However, I do require a mask and hand sanitizing for museum visitors. Most willingly comply. A few call me names and storm off.
Last weekend my only uncle and aunt visited Grand Marais. On Sunday (short hour day), we took a drive to the Hurricane River. My aunt loves this spot, so we had to visit it! Thanks, Doug and Lynne Kane, for the wonderful meals we shared, the conversations, and the PRNL outing.
