This morning there was a mom bear and her three Cubs playing in my front yard.

Hike in the Grand Sable Dunes, Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore
A week or so ago I was happy to have a couple of friends visit Grand Marais. One day we parked at Sable Lake and hiked across the Grand Sable Dunes to the bluff over Lake Superior, and back. It was a much needed hike!
It had rained in the morning, as you can see with the drops still covering leaves.
There were flowers in bloom all over the sand dunes!
One of the telegraph poles from a 12-mile long line that connected Au Sable Lighthouse with Grand Marais, is still standing.
Our water-break stop....
Wild pea....
Another telegraph pole -- this one on the ground.

Grand Marais, MI July 4th Holiday
Grand Marais has an old fashioned July 4th holiday. Some years I wear the 1880s bear coat in the parade, but it was too hot yesterday so I chose not to. Here are photos from the parade.
The parade lines up on the street in front of the museum....
The start....
My friend, Bob, with a new member of their family.
Although the fireworks were OK, it was different this year. Rather than have single fireworks, they lit off finale groups of fireworks continuously. There was not enough time to "ooo and ahhh." I still captured a few photos.
