Today's update includes more photos taken at the Mason, MI gem and mineral show the last weekend in October. One of the member's displays had information about the impostor Petoskey Stones. Photos of the impostors and an actual Petoskey stone are below.
Another booth had information about Kona dolomite, found near Ishpeming west of Marquette. Kona is another type of stromatolite formation.
There was a table with minerals and rocks for the kids to purchase.
A guy came by the booth and talked about his gold prospecting. He said a recent trip to California resulted in him finding 9 ounces of gold. At over $1,300 an ounce, he more than paid for his trip. Here is a gold on quartz nugget that he found on one of his prospecting trips.
The Mason show is the biggest booth I have. I don't know the actual dimension, but the dealer's fee pays for 8 eight foot tables.
