Beginning of Autumn

Happy fall to everyone.  Yesterday was the fall equinox.  On a day of the equinox, the center of the Sun spends a roughly equal amount of time above and below the horizon at every location on the Earth, night and day being of roughly the same length.

I caught the tail end of a sunset the other night.

The crew is almost done installing all the water pipes throughout town, but now they are backtracking and installing connections and water meters with all the properties in town.  They are almost done with east town and are now working on the west end of town.

Yesterday, the first official day of autumn, sure felt like fall.  Winds were up to 30 mph and were kicking up big waves on Lake Superior.  Below you can see the waves squeezing through the opening in the still not completed break wall.

The bay side of the break wall will not be filled in, other than by nature.  Sand continues to pile onto the shore.
