Traditional winter conditions continue in the Grand Marais area. It has been cold with off and on Lake effect snow for the past several days. Yesterday the thermometer climbed to around 10, but wind chills were still below zero. We have around two feet of snow on the ground.

The current ice cover, which is more than it was all last year but still far less than normal.
Current water temperature of Lake Superior....
As you can see below, the Lake's water temperature is still above freezing in the Grand Marais area.
