Sugarloaf Mountain Hike

Last night after the TV6 art show ended, my friend, Helen, and I hiked up Sugarloaf Mountain, located a few miles north of Marquette, MI.  This area contains large two billion year old rock outcroppings.  The hills you see today used to be majestic mountains taller than the Rocky Mountains.  They have eroded down to their current size over the millenia.

It doesn't show up well in the photo, but there is still ice out on the lake the other side of the islands.

There is still a little bit of snow and ice along the shoreline...
