We actually had sun for two days in a row here in Grand Marais. Due to the lake effect machine, we do not get to see the sun very much in the winter. To celebrate and to take in a few of the rays, I went snowshoeing down the beach from Agate Beach to the breakwall with friend, Lois Fite.
The shelf ice is still piling up.
The lighthouse at the end of the breakwall is mostly hidden by ice.
The channel is partly open -- at least today it is. The ice moves in and out of the channel on a daily basis.
Looking north down the channel toward the lighthouse....
Heading back to the parking lot....
