Yesterday I did research on the Grand Marais history book all day until finally the sun, as well as my friend, Renee, made me go outside for exercise. We started from the Sable Visitor's center and snowshoed through the deep snow across the fields to Sable Lake. Since we have not seen much of the sun lately, we decided to clear off and sit on the guard rail and just enjoy the sunshine. Our silence was only broken by a few snowmobiles that screamed past us.
In areas out of the wind, the snow is still clinging to the trees....
As I said, in places the snow was so deep that even with snowshoes we sunk way down.
Approaching Sable Lake....
Snow covered bush along the Sable Lake shoreline...
Snowmobiling is an important winter industry for Grand Marais, but we try to ignore the noise and smell the best we can.
Sable Dunes across from where we were sitting....
Sable River is down there somewhere....
Snow covered trees....
Just loved these pics. The one from the lake looking at the snow-covered dunes, so beautiful and a couple cute ones below that one. Thanks so much for posting them for us to enjoy vicariously.
