Although it was WAY too hot, we still had a blast celebrating the July 4th holiday. Thanks to my son and his family for a great time!
My grandson, Keenen, rode on the fire truck for the parade!
Although I tried to talk him out of it, Jonathan continued the tradition begun by the museum founder and wore the 1800s bear coat in the parade. The temperatures were in the mid-80s -- way too hot for me to wear the coat.
I think we had more people than usual in Grand Marais on the 4th. The picture below shows some of the people lined up to watch the parade.
Fireworks!

Beach Hike
The other day my son and his family went with me on a beach hike. We walked from Sable Falls into town. It was great except for the black flies.

Bluebird Visitor
A bluebird recently visited my house. I'm not sure if he liked his reflection, or if he thought it was a competitor.

Evening Hike on the Grand Marais Breakwall
Message to regular blog followers: As you know I have not been posting on this blog lately. I must admit I am trying to simplify my life, so I have decided to not post as much as I have in the past. Thanks for your understanding.
To celebrate summer solstice, last night I walked to the end of the breakwall for sunset. It was a beautiful evening!
Looking east….
Heading out to the end of the breakwall….
Sand build up has buried a sign...
Sunset....
Looking west....
One guy and three kids were fishing...
The damage at the end of the breakwall is the same as it was last year.
Beach fires at first creek, taken with my zoom lens.
