This past weekend the UP200 dog sled race took place. The snow was so deep that it took the teams much longer to get to Grand Marais (half way point of the race, which started in Marquette). Some years the teams arrive early in the morning. This year, the first team did not arrive until just before dark (around 5:30 PM). I took some photos earlier in the day, and then went back to get pictures of the first teams arriving.

Because the race was running long, and the deep snow was hard on the dogs, race officials shortened the race. Rather than return to Marquette, they stopped the race in Wetmore.
