Log Slide to Au Sable Lighthouse Hike: Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore

This past Sunday was another beautiful fall day in Grand Marais.  What a wonderful fall this has been, at least overall.  I had a great hike and picnic with my friend, David, who was visiting from Traverse City.  Thanks, David, for a fun time!

First, we stopped at the overlook at Sable Lake to get a few fall color photos.  There were at least a dozen other people there doing the same thing.

Hiking the trail....

Even at the top of the bluff there is erosion.  The trail has had to be re-routed in sections.

Au Sable Lighthouse....

We were sort of hoping that we would see a bear.  There must have been multiple sightings for the National Park Service to put up this sign.....

Fall Photos

I still have some southern Indiana photos to post, but I just have to interrupt those pictures with some Upper Peninsula fall color pictures.

I will start by sharing some photos I took in Marquette at the property owned by my friends, Jim and Helen.  What a beautiful day it was.

I was with my friend, Carol, who is my hearing advocate.  We had gone to Marquette to pick up my new (and first) hearing aids.  You don't know what you can hear until you hear the new sounds.  Helen, Carol, and I went for a walk to enjoy the creek and fall colors.

The old ore dock in Marquette....

Then on Thursday my friend, Lois, and I got exercise by going up and down the Sable Falls steps three times.

The view from the top of the steps, looking north.

On our third trip down the steps, we always go to the beach.  Down the path....

The beach erosion continues....

There was not much water going over the falls....

Ziplining in Southern Indiana

On one of the beautiful days I spent with my sister, Diana, in Leopold, Indiana -- we went zip-lining.  It was the second time for both of us.  There were eight lines all together.  What fun!

Getting geared up...

On your mark, get set, go...........

Here is a video of two of the lines.....
