A couple of weeks ago I had a few slow minutes in the museum so I decided to pull out my microscope and look at agates close up and personal. I happened to have my old point and shoot digital camera and snapped off a few shots down one of the eye pieces.
First -- a couple of shots of polished agates with the microscope's top light on. The first is Brazilian and the second is Laguna.
Here are a couple of more top-light photos of rough Lake Superior agates.
Now a few back-lit shots of Brazilian slabs.
