Skiing at -20 below wind chill

This weekend is the UP200 dog sled race in Grand Marais.  There are 16 teams racing this year.  They left Marquette at 7pm last night and will be doing a required rest stop in Grand Marais on Saturday.  Several of my friends made the brave drive to Grand Marais yesterday in advance of the festivities.  It was not an easy drive.  In fact, just driving to and around town yesterday was tough due to the extreme lake effect snow combined with blowing and drifting snow/white out conditions.  Despite that, I went cross country skiing with friends Lois Fite, Helen Riley, and Marsha O'Brian.  The trails had not been groomed and in places we were trudging through deep snow, but we did it!  The weather was absolutely crazy!
