To celebrate being back in Grand Marais, I just had to get up into my beloved sand dunes. There is so little snow that I was easily able to drive to Sable Lake. There wasn't a lot of snow in the dunes but the snowshoes were helpful on the frozen sand.
Sable Lake does have frozen ice, but very little snow. There is one ice shanty that was just put up in the last couple of days.
Some sections of the dunes still have snow. In this area the snow is just a few inches deep.
Most of the dunes have almost no snow.

From the bluff I took this shot looking east.
There finally is some shore ice. The offshore water temperature must finally be at or below 32.
