Snow Storm and Agate Close Ups

This past few days it has been snowing some, but blowing more.  This has been the view out my window -- at least off and on with each lake effect snow band.

This past couple of days while hunkered down I decided to work on a web page update for www.agatelady.com.  Since I have not posted an update since August -- it is overdue.  There are lots of customer agate finds included in this update, which will be uploaded to my webmaster today and posted soon.  But as a preview, here are some close up portions of these agate photos.

Eye agate....

Botryoidal formation..

Lacey with shadow...

Nice bands...

Banding on the outer husk....

Michipicoten Island agates...

Tube....

Once the agatelady webpage update is posted, you might want to check out the History Gem segment.  I went through the museum's archive and found a copy of the Grand Marais Herald newspaper from 1905.  There is an interesting local news listing.  I've included some of the more humorous listings.  Apparently there are only a half dozen copies of this newspaper known to have survived.  James Carter, originally from Grand Marais, has the other five copies.
