Grand Marais Beach and Dunes

For today's blog posting I am including photos that I took while hiking around Grand Marais with friend, Lois Fite.  We are back into our exercise routine, even on the days that we can only hike for a half hour or so.

Mushroom family....

Beach time after climbing up the bluff past First Creek....

As you can see, the recent storms have deposited a lot of driftwood onto our beach....

The storms also pushed up a lot of rock.  It is good agate hunting on our beach right now.  Of course, the next storm could undertow the rocks back out.

One day we hiked part way across the dunes.  It was a beautiful sunny day....

On another day we went up and down Sable Falls steps three times....

On the third time we always treat ourselves to the beach, even though there is not much beach left at the mouth of Sable River....

  1. Really enjoyed looking at these photos and seeing your adventures. How inspiring to know you went up and down Sable Falls steps three times! Yaaay But, I'm glad I went on two kind of short walks in half-darkness today, once about 8:30 and again about 5:30, both walks in town. Thanks for these postings. :)
