Winter Beach Fire Picnic

All winter long my friends, Jamey and Lois, and I have been wanting to visit a beach that we go to during the summer months a lot.  The road is not plowed all the way, so we drove as far as we could and snowshoed in.  When we got to the beach, it was foggy with little to no wind.  We worked to gather enough wood, since a lot of the wood was stuck in the ice.  Then we cooked dinner of quiche, broccoli, and red pepper potatoes!  Just before we were ready to eat, the wind picked up big time.

Snowshoeing down the unplowed road....

Through the woods and up some hills....

To finally arrive at the beach....

Our other exercise and adventure partners, Bear and Nora....

Cooking dinner....

When the wind picked up, the Lake Superior splashes against the shelf ice were awesome!

Dinner....

It really got cold so we decided to head back....

The Sucker River on the north side of the bridge had no ice...

On the south side of the bridge the river was totally covered in ice...

It was too dark to get a decent photo, but there were deer in town...
