Incredible Beach Hike at Sunset -- featuring Lake Superior Ice Mounds

It rained hard all day, but the rain stopped by late afternoon. Given our schedules, my friends and I could not go on a hike until around 6:30 pm. Because the sun came out, we decided to hit the beach.

Deer were everywhere along the shoreline, and properties along the shore.

There is still a lot of ice along the shoreline. As you can see below, the shore ice is half as high as the outer harbor lighthouse.

The shore ice is starting to melt.

Shore ice....

There was an awesome opening in the shore ice.

In the photo below, you can barely see the lighthouse above the ice mounds.

First creek is starting to break through the ice.

Looking west.....

Heading back....

Just as it was getting dark, we noticed a freighter heading westbound. This is the first freighter I have seen this year.
