This past Sunday I met a friend at the Seney ski trails, the access which is located just south of Germfask. Temperatures were in the low 20s with some wind. Diane had just purchased her first pair of snowshoes, so I told her we could go out. Although the trails are intended for cross country skiing, we walked next to the trail so as to not disturb the track. Half way through the trek we had a winter picnic.

I am almost caught up with posting photos. Today I will include pictures taken last week on a snowshoe to the First Creek area located west of Woodland Campground in Grand Marais, MI. We parked at the end of the park, and went down the steps to the beach.

Once we arrived up on top, we found a downed tree on which to sit and have a picnic.

On the First Creek path, someone built a structure. Rumor has it that a homeless person was living there before winter started.
I am getting closer to catching up on all the photos I have taken the last month or so. Today I will start by posting pictures taken on a cross-country ski with friends in the Grand Marais school forest. It was a beautiful day!
Sucker River.....
A couple of days later my friends helped to "human-groom" my ski trails by snowshoeing. Then we skied. I did not take photos until we were done. I document the sunset over the future Agatelady Rock Shop building.
We have on the level around two feet of snow, with drifts higher. On this day six years ago the snow on the south side of my house was almost up to the roof. Today it is only 4-5 feet high.
While I was down state, in addition to visiting my son and his family, I spent a half day with friend, Mark Comstock, and his sister, Clare, who was visiting from Colorado. We had lunch and then drove over to the Botanical Gardens to visit the conservatory and hike the trails.
Here is one more Christmas photo I forgot to post yesterday, mostly since this photo was taken the day after Christmas when we went to my daughter-in-law's brothers house for dinner. Incredible Christmas outfits.
I am still catching up posting photos. Here are the photos I took on Christmas day while visiting my youngest son and his family. We had a wonderful, relaxing visit!
We did not have a white Christmas in SE Michigan. It did not snow until two days later.
We told my grandson he could not wake us up until 7am.

Still catching up posting photos: the pictures below were taken during a snowshoe adventure in the Grand Sable Dunes. It was a foggy day with little to no wind -- which is unusual as of late. These photos were taken on December 17th. Ice was just starting to form on Sable Lake.
