Time out Time

After much consideration I decided to take time out again from social media as well as my blog. As you regulars know, I have not been posting as much this past several months.  Rather than struggle with setting my priorities, I am just going to temporarily cross this blog and Facebook off my list.  When I return in February, I hope to have some extra special posts.  Thanks for your understanding.

Another Snowshoe

Yesterday my friend, Renee, came over to play cards (cribbage and Yooper Rummy) as well to snowshoe my yard.  Because of the incredible wind we have had over the last few weeks, snow depth varies from one to four feet.  It was a nice afternoon to be outside.

The snow is piling up on the south side of my house....

Snowshoe in the School Forest

The other day I went snowshoeing in the school forest with friend, Lois Fite.  It was cold (around 10 degrees) with a stiff wind off the lake.  Our intention was to go down to the beach to see what the winter was doing with the shoreline.  However, the beach was a complete white out.  We decided since we could not see the beach it would be better to head inland.

It was beautiful.

Local Grand Marais Basketball Game

When my two boys were in school I went to all the basketball games.  Even after they graduated, I went to the games for a while.  But as the years went on and I didn't really know the kids, I stopped going and instead concentrated on working on my projects.  But last night I decided to go.  We played Paradise.  Both schools have a very small student enrollment.  I believe both student bodies from K-12 are less than 30 students.  So to have enough players the participants must be in 7th grade and can include both boys and girls.  I was happy to see that the boys on the teams did pass the ball to the girls.  Grand Marais won decisively, but both teams played hard and did very well.  Congrats to all the players!

In the hallway upstairs along the upper wall there are photos of all the graduating classes.  Below are the pictures of both my kids' classes.  Jonathan had a class of 7; Kevin had a class of 9.  Back then the school had around 80 total students.

I sat upstairs with friends and took this picture of my friend, Renee, who was sitting downstairs across the gym.

Blizzard

The photos below show what it looks like outside my window right now.  Grand Marais could get two feet of new snow before the storm ends on Friday.

Happy New Year -- Snow in Grand Marais

Happy New Year.  I hope everyone has a fulfilling, happy, and prosperous (on all levels) in 2017.

Here are a few photos to document the snow in my yard, as well as the partially frozen bay.
