Yesterday was a beautiful sunny day, but it was COLD. The ambient temperatures were in the mid 20s, but the wind was gusting to 30 mph. My friend, Barb, and I decided to see how far east we could drive. We were very surprised to find out we could drive all the way. We are not sure if the road was officially plowed, but we drove to Perry's Landing. The road was mostly ice, but my Suburban made it just fine. We donned our snowshoes and headed down the North Country Trail to the east. After around 20 minutes, we were both so cold, we decided to head back to the car. We ate our lunch sitting in the car. After which, we drove back to Grand Marais and decided to go to Coast Guard Point. Again, it was SOOOO cold, we walked to the beach and headed back. I was able to get a few photos.

There is shore ice around a mile out into Lake Superior.

Coast Guard Point.
There was a continuous battle between the waves (5-10 feet high) and the ice in the channel.
