Epic Snowshoe to Beach East of Grand Marais

On Sunday I went on a long snowshoe with friends, Lois and Helen, from H58 through the Burt Township School Forest to the Lake Superior shoreline.  Temperatures were in the 40s so the snow was soft and challenging.  We all over dressed and ended up getting quite warm.  After the bitterly cold winter we have had, it was sure a change.

One of Lois's dogs went us:  Bear.

There seemed to be even more ice on the Sucker River this week than a week ago.

Bear loves the snow.

After a few hours of hard trudging, we finally reached the shore.

This picture I took looking west.  You can see the harbor lighthouse as well as Au Sable lighthouse.

We as usual had a nice picnic.

After hanging out on the bluff for an hour or so, we headed back.
