Tucson Gem and Mineral Show

One of the main reasons for driving out west was to attend the Tucson Gem and Mineral Show and purchase items for the museum's gift shop.  Thanks to Karen Boaz for attending the show with me.  Although she is from the U.P., during the winter she and her husband live an easy drive away from the show.

This show is not just one show.  There are over 40 different shows with many hundreds of dealers from all over the world.  Tens of thousands of people attend the show.  After only two of the venues, I went over budget.  This show is quite overwhelming.

The main venue I go to is the Kinko complex at Electric Park...

We also went to the JOGS show....

Some photos taken at these two venues...

Some of the tents are the size of a football field.

This specimen of Polychrome Jasper must weigh a thousand pounds...

Amber light and other items...

Rough labadorite...

Rough Ocean Jasper (they found another deposit)....

Fossils, fossils, and more fossils....

Labadorite and rose quartz...

A new fluorite (yes I bought several specimens)....

Polychrome Jasper...

Carnelian....
