Back Home in Grand Marais--Photos of town

I arrived back home a couple of days ago.  It was a bit scary, and with the help of my son, Jonathan, who advised me on the phone--I have everything turned on in my house.  No water leaks, so I am thankful.

I am self quarantining for 14 days, but I did go down the beach yesterday.

Golf Goal Met

As some of you know, I have been working on shooting under 100 strokes for 18 holes of golf for the past two years.  My first lesson was in September 2018.  My last lesson with my golf coach, John Lamb, was mid-October 2019.  John passed away a month later.  I hope he was looking down, watching, and cheering when I broke 100 yesterday for the first time.  I have broken 50 on nine holes several times.  I have shot 100 twice.  Yesterday was the best I have golfed for an entire round.  Thank you, John.  RIP.  Thank you goes, also, to all those who also cheered me on.

Sunset and snake

A couple of nights ago I went for another walk on the beach at sunset to get a few photos. Yesterday I saw the first snakes since I have been down here in the Florida panhandle. They just finished burying new cables for XFinity around my condo. It must have disturbed the snakes. The first one I saw on my porch. It was long, fat, and black -- somewhat coiled laying in the sun. As soon as I saw him, I went into the condo to grab my camera and by the time I went back out (5 seconds later), he was gone. Ten minutes later I decided to look on the other side of the fence and I saw a smaller, two-foot long, skinny black snake. Does anyone know what type of snake this is?

Geico and Flower

It is a warm sunny day.  Even the geckos are out in force.  They are the fastest lizards!

More Florida Pictures

My time in Florida is winding down.  I have really enjoyed the people, the golf, the meals out, and the weather, of course.  Most of the golf has been played in the scramble format, but yesterday we played our own ball.  I was determined to beat 100 for the first time, but fell a little short with a 102.  I missed five fairly short putts and had some bad shots approaching the green.  My drives were very good so now I must continue to work on the short game.  But I am having fun with the game!

I've gone for a beach walk the last two nights.  Here are a few photos.

Our complex has our own putt-putt course.  It is a very tough course!

We have several pools, but only one is heated.

Shuffleboard.

Our access to the beach is across the street from our complex.

The other night I took myself out to dinner at Mike's.  It is the first time I have ever had royal red shrimp.  They really do taste like lobster!
