Coast Guard Point Walk

Last night I drove down to the end of Coast Guard Point and went for a walk on the beach.  I was hoping for a sunset, but a cloud bank blocked the western sky.  I was still able to get some great photos.

Looking east over the channel toward what is left of Lonesome Point....

Pancake ice in the channel...

Shelf ice is still hugging the beach and the west breakwall....

There is still some ice on the new breakwall as well...

When I was walking on the beach, a guy went way out on the ice.  He ventured to the third row of shelf ice -- which is not safe at all!

Looking west....

There are some exposed rocks on the beach, but not a lot....

Old Coast Guard station, now national park offices....
