End of Sportsmans Restaurant and Snow Covered Buildings

It is hard to say if the last two days are just sad, or a sign of good things to come.  It hurt Grand Marais not having Sportsmans Restaurant open this past year.  So even though I am sad to see this historic building go -- I look forward to Grand Marais having a new restaurant.  Apparently, the building was in such bad shape that it was not recoverable.  Good luck to the three guys that will now embark on constructing a new restaurant.

It took two days for the crew to take the building down and haul the debris away.  Yesterday around 3:30 they tore down the last part....

By 5:00 the building was gone....

The other day I drove out to the end of Coast Guard point to get a few photos.  First the lighthouse....

Zooming into the shore east of town....

Buildings on the point....
