Break Wall Progress and First Creek Sunset

Just before sunset I drove down to Coast Guard Point to check progress on the break wall construction project. They are still bringing boulders. They are granite that was mined in Pembine, Wisconsin.

They were unloading more boulders last night.

Then I headed over to First Creek and took a walk on the beach.

My friend, Jill, was down the beach the other day after the rain.  Apparently there was enough water for the creek to reach Lake Superior.  You can see evidence of that in the picture below.  However, the creek has now shrunk back into the woods.

New maple leaf growth...

This is a picture of a huge beech tree next to the parking lot at First Creek.  It will be sad when all the beech trees fall victim to the disease that is wiping them out.
