Lake Superior Bluff and Beach Snowshoe -- Post 2

Project Update
Yesterday my webmaster purchased and installed the membership/password software.  I was also able to log in and add my two cents.  There are just a few details to take care of and a little bit of testing once everything is installed and linked.  But we are close.  Launch should be in the next day or so.

Epic Snowshoe
Today I'll post the rest of the photos from the tremendous snowshoe I took with Jamey and Lois.

First, three ice volcanoes all in a row.....

Looking west....

Approaching Sable Falls...

It was not easy getting down the steps, but we managed.  A mostly frozen Sable Falls....

On the other side of the river, a clump of snow must have fallen off a tree and then formed a snowball that rolled down the slope.

Then we snowshoed down to Lake Superior and headed back east down the beach to Woodland Park, where my car was parked.

Jamey and Lois's dog, Bear.  Notice the iceberg with large ice chunks that were pushed up by massive waves.

Another ice volcano...

Jamey and Lois's other dog, Nora, loves to climb "mountains."  Can you see her?

Here is a close up of the dune...

As we headed down the beach, we found two holes in the ice that went all the way down to lake level.  The water in the hole was a few inches high, but Jamey did try to find an agate -- with no success.  It would have been a great story if he had been successful.

Beach art...

The top of the lighthouse...

And then we spotted the coyote.  He was hanging out on the icebergs in front of Woodland Park.  Tomorrow I'm going to post details about coyotes.

As we completed our trek, I noticed this picnic table mostly covered by our recent snowfalls.
