PRNL Chapel Hike -- Post 3

Today I'll continue posting photos from the Chapel Loop hike I took with friends the other day.

First, here are the rest of the pictures I took at Mosquito Beach.  The waves were just pounding their way to the rocky shore.

Sandstone layers line the beach...

Looking east you can see the sandstone cliffs...

This tree is trying to survive...

When we headed back down the trail, we found a great blueberry patch.  Yes, we stopped and ate blueberries for around 10 or 15 minutes.

The rock shown below was our lunch spot.  You can see Grand Island, located in Munising Bay, in the background.

I'm not sure how many species of fungi we saw -- but a lot.

Jan, Marsha, and Jim checking out one of the overlooks.

Below is a photo of the north end of Grand Island.

Along the trail, there are two "arch ways."

Mountain ash...

One of the arches:  with and without waves.

Bunch berries (not edible).
