PRNL Chapel Hike -- Post 5

Today I'll post the remaining pictures from the Chapel Hike.  This posting includes the photos from Grand Portal Point, Chapel Rock, and Chapel Falls.

Spray Falls...

The other arch way, part of which fell several years ago.

More tannin and mineral staining on the sandstone cliff...

Denise, Jim, Marsha, and Jan taking a break...

Chapel Rock with the White Pine tree growing on top...

Battleship Row, which we call Guardian Row...

Colorful fungi...

Rainbow Cave....

Chapel Beach...

We noticed that the Pictured Rocks boat cruises had not been running all day -- until we were at Chapel Beach.  The waves were 8-10 feet high.  I'm glad I wasn't on that boat.

I did join my friends and put my feet in the lake...

Jim, Denise, and Marsha filtering water and filling their water bottles...

Chapel River...

Notice how Chapel Rock has eroded over the last 100 years...

The tree on Chapel Rock is kept alive by the roots that are free spanning it over to the shore.

On the trail...

Chapel Falls...

A cool tree...

We spotted deer along the trail.  They were not concerned about us at all.
