Yesterday was colder with temperatures in the low 20s, but there was not much wind. Plus it was sunny! With the recent thaw, we were able to drive past Sable Lake. As we passed the lake, we noticed this ice fishing shack. I'm sure it is a local who checked the thickness of the ice. With the recent thaw, I'm surprised the ice was thick enough.
We bushwhacked it up into the dunes.
During our dune hike/show shoe, we saw a new ghost forest -- one that we had not seen before.
When we got closer, we noticed that there was a hand-made cross at the top of a small mounded dune. At first I was a little freaked out, but then we could both feel the positive energy. The cross was made from beaver cuttings, tied together with leather strapping. I'm not sure how long it has been there or who put it there, but it felt like a spiritual spot -- protected by the ghost forest sentry trees.
Here is a close up of the top of one of the sentry trees.
