It has been adventurous to snowshoe each day this week. A couple of days ago Wendy and I snowshoed over near Sable Lake. We noticed that the ice was just starting to form on Sable Lake, clinging only to the shores. This early ice can be quite artistic.
The footbridge on the North Country Trail near Sable Lake is a bit scary with snowshoes.
The ice is also starting to form on Sable River.
On the hill just west of Sable Lake, there is a stretch of trees that were snapped off by one of the fierce fall storms. There were dozens of trees broken off 20-30 feet off the ground. Some of the trees were more than a foot in diameter. What strength winds are required to break trees in half?
