Sunset Beach Ski

Last night at sunset I tested the beach for skiing.  We don't have much snow, but I was able to hug the bluff and find enough.  This time of year the sun sets well to the southwest, so it is not visible over Lake Superior such as it is during the summer.  But that does not mean you don't get beautiful colors.

I started at the "front porch" boardwalk and skied west, stopping to capture the photo below.

Then I noticed a freighter passing from east to west...

Zooming into Au Sable lighthouse.

Looking east to the harbor lighthouse on the end of the breakwall..

Here is a picture of the middle steps in Woodland Park -- for all you summer visitors that are missing our beach.

First Creek....

  1. Beautiful, Karen. Thanks for posting these. There's nothing like winter in GM on Lake Superior.
