Beach Bluff Snowshoe and Current Lake Superior Ice Cover

Yesterday Lois and I did a quick snowshoe and climbed up the bluff past First Creek again.  The slope of this bluff allows us to get some high quality exercise in a short amount of time.

All the trees make it difficult to get good photos.  This first picture shows shelf ice that is even higher after the northerly winds that we have had these past few days.  It is hard to make out, but there is a considerable amount of ice out on the horizon as well.

Beach view looking west....

Looking east....

The Great Lakes in total as well as Lake Superior are around half covered with ice.
